I Absolutely Love These Songs!!!
I'll be honest. In the same way of Hair Club for Men, I also listen to my radio station a ton. And I mean a ton. So, I really know my playlist a lot. After listening to the songs, it gives me a steady stream of happiness, non-stop. But certain songs bring me to my feet and make me so happy. Ah, so I just have to give a special tribute to these happiness moments.
Listen to my hot hip hop radio show, Elemental Wizardry, right now!!
All my old favs
Church On Tuesday -- Stone Temple Pilots (This song is the bomb!! I can dance to it like crazy, even when the rhythm throws me off! I love it! Erreyone's always drinkin and dying to me.. alas--)
Don't Do It -- Session (Session's thugness is so adorable! *hug!* Yo, this track is really bangin though, it'll get the crowd movin something lovely at a party. And what.)
Complex Simplicity -- Pack FM f/ Last Emperor & Many Styles (Great beat! I still can't really understand what it's about.. the simplicity is a little too complex for me. I like it a lot, though.)
Porcelain -- Tonedeff (This is a classic.)
Earthquake Weather -- Beck (Beck is one of my favorite artists ever!! His songs are super catchy, have a wonderful mixture of real instruments and synths, break beats and record scratching, and he just makes me feel so dang good every time I listen to him sing or spit. Do your thing, hops!! This is seriously one of those tracks I could listen to over and over and over again. I love the kickin' groove and that nasty guitar loop.)
Ryder Music -- 50 Cent (This song is chill, but still has a kickin' groove. I wasn't a huge 50 Cent fan, but his album is really quite nice.. it's better than I thought it would be-- a lot of songs are decent, lol. Big ups to tha MAN!! G-g-g-g-g-G Unit!!!)
This Love -- Maroon 5 (I first heard this track on DJ JS1 and DJ Ody Roc's Mashed Potatoes.. it was cool there. So then I somehow found out that it was Maroon 5's big hit. I'm not really sure how I found that out, but I did. Now, I can't get enough of it!! Do your thing! Let out that frustration, you talented r&b singer with your beautiful backing band!!! forever yours, eeloqkutzien)
Number One Spot -- Ludacris (This is the second song I bought from iTunes :-) Luda is just great. He's a funny man, a tough dude, a player, a lover [ie Chris Lova Lova] and has an amazing flow. You do yo thing, mane!! The video is hilarious as well. Plus, how can I not immediately love someone who gives props to Dora the Explora? Aww... love, soce)
Let's Get Blown -- Snoop Doggy Dogg (I absolutely love this song!! Is that Snoop himself singing on the track during the verses? I just love the chord changes and everything about it. This is the very first song I have purchased from Apple's iTunes store.. and I'm very proud of that!)
Green -- B Wil, prod. by Drugczar (Very catchy song. I wish it was longer. Drugczar talks a big, tough talk, but this song is much more of a "look at how chill, smooth and easy I go down" kind of track.. just the way I like it. It's on.)
Dead Wrong -- Scream Club f/ Katastrophe & Mirah (You know how you're sittin back, listening to a great album, and then all of a sudden one track just jumps out at you and is like, "I am an amazing track that you can listen to like 100 times in a row and still love!"? Well, that's what happened the moment that Dead Wrong kicked into its first chorus. I love the 6/8 beat-- it's a nice change up. And I love the mystery of the verses.. what's the problem, right? Katastrophe definitely kills it when he comes in to spit as well. peace, eocs)
Monster -- Vic Damone (This track has one of the most infectious beats ever!!! I seriously listened to this song like 5 times in a row waiting for the subway after work, dancing like a maniac. I do that when I'm alone.. when I'm with my buddies, I am too self-conscious, and I don't want to put on a show for them or embarrass them, but when I don't know anyone around me, I let the funkiness rip out. So anyway, this song is totally dope. Vic is a monster!!! He's so grimy.. this has claps and a catchy guitar line from like a 60s song or something. Cot damn!!!)
Dimelo -- Tony Touch f/ Doo Wop (I love the Tony Toca/Doo Wop combo!! I've been a fan of Doo Wop since back in '97 when I got one of his mixtapes. It's nice to see them on a track together. The beat is simple but infectious. love, socetew)
Your Band -- Schaffer the Darklord (This track is super hot! A negative funky dance breakdown jam! Your band sucks!!! The music has great horn samples and hot, groovin' guitar and drums. What's up with that?? Don't mess with the Darklord if you are a creepy, fake dude. Stank!!!!)
I'm F****n' You Up -- Poison Pen (Poison Pen is in the building!!! This man is a great lyricist and an even better live performer. Every time he steps to the stage, I know I'm in trouble. He's also extremely friendly and cool-- but don't start beef with him or he will squash you. Tell it!!)
On the Eve of War (Julio Caesar Chavez Mix) -- Jedi Mind Tricks f/ GZA (How can I not like it when rappers spit over the diamond commercial song?? Now classical music.. that is HARD-CORE. love, soce)
Turn Me On -- Kevin Lyttle (This song is really nice and melodic. I love the internet, because I hadn't listed it yet since I didn't know who did it, but I went to the Hot 97 website, looked it up, and then to make sure, I listened to a snippet of it on iTunes. Sweet!! Do yo thing with that girl, man!!)
Senorita -- Jin (Hey, I don't care if doing a girl track makes Jin look weak. This had a really hot beat that made me bounce. I could listen to it over and over and over again. I seriously was in Borders, listening to like 40-50 different hip hop tracks on their little scanner machine, and this was the one track that got me all amped and ready to move. It's got that one-two step beat, kind of like Hey Ya! or the like.)
Breathe -- Fabolous (Fab has done it again. He got the hot 80s rock sample [or whatever it is] the disgusting choking sounds, the death-rap, the 4+ syllable rhymes.. it's really quite funky and also makes me happy to hear it. Yay!)
Oye Mi Canto -- Big Mato, Daddy Yankee, Gem Star, N.O.R.E. & Nina Sky (This song is ridiculously catchy. I've had the bassline stuck in my head for weeks. This is a hot track, very positive, and it makes me so happy to hear it.)
Big Girl -- Nas (You really ARE a big girl now, and of that you should be proud!! Wet, sloppy kiss, soce)
Hold You Down -- Alchemist f/ Prodigy, Nina Sky and Illa Ghee (This song is chill and comfortable. You knew it would be a radio hit when you heard claps instead of snares, plus that high-pitched vocal sample. That's all it takes, and we got a new pop joint! I'm a big fan of Alchy, and I'm excited to see him go places. In the first track of the album, he's all like "Remember this?" and then he plays a bar of one of the earlier hits he produced. So I was like, "I do remember that! And I love that track!" Alchemist is way up there on my list of favorite ever white, Jewish producers MCs, along with DJ Scram Jones [and myself, LOL!!!]. Hold you down.. alright, alright, alright.. Our boy Al!! Everybody's pal!)
Few Know -- Dots Will Echo (It's either Few Know or Fear Not.. I'm not positive.. but it's the last track on one of his three-song CDs. This song is pure bliss, the way lead singer Nick's voice lilts above the guitar and everything. I just want to sit back and glide away...)
Little Bit of Soap -- De La Soul (Somehow, the way they produced the Stand By Me sample sounds extremely dark and foreboding. I love it! I could listen to this track at least 7 or 8 times in a row, even though it's only like 1 minute long.. 8 barz total. It's very funny and cute, and I love the singing of the title at the end. Great job, guys!! e-e-e-eocs)
Moving On -- Kimya Dawson (I love songs in minor keys. I wish there were more of those on Kimya's album. I like the songs on it, but many of them are happy-sounding with sad lyrics.. so I'd be down w/ more sad-sounding songs w/ sad lyrics. But then again, I do the happy/sad switchup a bunch myself, so we're all guilty. N.E.Weyz, back to the track. I enjoy the chord changes, especially during the chorus, when the little girl's voice comes in. It sounds so wonderfully innocent, and that brings an extra level of poignance to the whole epic. I hope the song's hero makes it out okay! love, soce)
Shake That Sh** -- Shawnna f/ Ludacris (This song is really catchy. It's got Timbo on beats, Luda on the chorus, and Shawnna's rhymes are really quite tight. She's got some attitude, yo! I can't believe I could have gotten this for free from the iTunes store, but I missed my chance! Oh well, it's just a dollar anyway. I think I can handle that. I love music!! I like that Shawnna has a specific rhyme style that she maintains consistently throughout the whole song. Way to hold it down, yo! Love, socetew)
Tempted to Touch -- Rupee (Speaking of videogames, Legend of Zelda much, anybody??? I just bought Ocarina of Time/Masterquest for GCN, and it's been quite fun to relive the memories again for the first time [lol, wtf!!]. I'm not completely crazy about this track, but I definitely agree with the sentiment. There are plenty of hotties out there I am tempted to touch.. whoo!! And yet I'm all about restraint, restraint, restraint!! And then it ends up coming out in small bursts to the wrong people, while I pass the important people by. Oh well, we all make mistakes. Sometimes I don't. Sometimes I touch, and it's actually appreciated! Oh, that those times happened more often. N.E.Weyz...)
Money is my B**** -- Nas (Nas can take any subject and flip it into a mad intense story/dialogue. Oh, how I would love for him to rap seriously about videogames. I just know it would have this death grip, nonstop fighting vibe, and I would love it! This song also has a dope beat that is both underground and was quite commercially viable in its heyday. Is money really Nas' b****, or is it the other way around???)
Show You How -- Prodigy feat. Littles (This beat is BANGIN'. It's the ultimate in street toughness. You got the cowbell, the scritchy wooden rub thing and lots of high hats, sweet synth mixed in just right, and hot bass notes. It's simple and plain, and I could probably listen to it for about four hours straight, just spittin' flows about how I'mma dust you off in no seconds flat. The rappers paint a nice grimy picture over a taut frame.)
Broken Record -- Joie Dead Blonde Girlfriend (I absolutely love this song. I like the strummy guitar especially during the chorus--the high picked notes--and all the lyrics and everything. Whoo! I feel like I've also heard a faster version of this w/ drums, but I can't remember where. This song is pretty long, too.. but I often just sit and listen to it maybe 2 or 3 times straight through, and then I can truly start my day. peace, soce)
Trick or Treat -- Matt Singer (Good prize! This song is definitely one of my most favorite songs EVAR. It's been stuck in my head for about 5 months straight now.. and gaining.. It's a mixture of awesome chord changes, angst and anger, smooth flow and easygoing guitar stylin. I just can't get enough of it. I have always thought that Matt Singer was truly amazing, but this is truly going above and beyond the call of duty and into the upper stratosphere of excellence.)
Retaliate -- Lords of the Underground (Oh, such a classic, classic track. It showcases the Lords' dominance as MCs, plus Jazz's proficiency on the beats. I love the swirling violins. The Lords claim to be Ressurected, but to me, they have never died [Awww....].)
Startstruck -- The Justin Riner Project (Sometimes, I feel I should just call this page "The CD's Are For Listening/Anti-Up Page of Fun", because a lot of the latest tracks on this list are from either of those CD comps.. word! This song is rockin, and it has way cool chords in it. I love the violin, and the angry attitude.. "I'm gonna strike you back now"-type deal. It's totally fun and happy!)
She Fell into the Dying Days of Summer -- Turner Cody (Here is another beautiful song that I cannot get out of my head. I guess that's my logic.. if it's stuck in my brain, then it must be good, right? But it's up on this list because I love singing it to myself over and over again. The melody is slow and steady and just makes me feel good, even though the lyrics are kind of depressing at times. Ain't it just like that, though? Bigg upps to the T-man for cutting a hot rug. yours, soch)
Going Under -- Evanescence (I first heard this track during the ending credits of my new favorite video game, Enter the Matrix. I think at the time, I was in another room, checking my email, so it didn't really register. But then a week or so later, I was at work, and I couldn't get it out of my head. I didn't even know where I had heard it, or what song it was, because I rarely listen to pop radio. So then, I beat the game again today, and after the first track on the credits, it came back on! Surprise, surprise! Oh, it's so hard driving and amazing. I love it so much. You GOTTA give it a listen completely free and legally at Evanescence's website. Go team!! I don't even usually like pop rock music, but this just totally satisfies on so many levels [what?]. forever yours, eocs)
Playing With Fire -- Chris Fuller (This song is super delicious. It's fast, it's furious, it's got a story to tell. I think I like the version that's just guitar and bass better, because that is totally rebellious, and I love all the lil mini-Chris Fullers that sing during the chorus. But the full-out rock band-type version is also really neat. Chris is just one talented guy, weaving a web of intrigue and telling it like it is.)
Everybody's Getting Married -- Steve Shiffman and the Land of No (Something about this track is so incredibly funky and addictive. His high voice really works for him on this track. The rhythm seems somehow abnormal.. probably because it often runs in a 1-2-3-1-2-3 vibe, even though it's really a 4/4 track. That's the kind of stuff that I find to be just titillating. How I long to embrace the love and the though of getting married.. but probably not for quite a few more years. It does really feel like everyone and their mothers are tying the knot these days, no? love, soce)
Push-Pull -- Randi Russo (Even just from the simplicity of the name, I could tell this was meant to be this hit pop track of the album [which is a good thing.. that means it's a hot track!]. I love how the calming, soothing nature of the music gets coupled with the intensely frustrating message given in the lyrics. I have a lot of friends where it seems that I am being pulled toward them and pushed away at the same time.. it's like they want me for certain things but not for other things, and that really irks me. So I think Randi expresses this sentiment perfectly. Rock on!! peace, eocs)
Indian Summer -- Duende (Every track on Duende's self-titled album is totally amazing. I've had this particular track stuck in my head for quite a while now, so that must mean that it is exceptional. I love the lilt to it, and the chord changes are non-traditional. best, s-)
Time Flies -- Nathan Caswell (From the moment the bass kicks in at the very start, I knew this would be hot. I always enjoy a good minor song, and this is no exception. All of Nathan's music is spunky and cool. Alas the CD I have of his is only 7 tracks long and lasts about just 22 minutes, but it's a start... hope to hear some more in the future.)
Your New Boyfriend -- Chris Maher (This is a totally rockin' track!! I love happy post-breakup music. I love it when people sing curses and violence as well, and yet it's so poppy that you'll find yourself gleefully shouting "sonofabitch" and "kill, kill, kill!" as though you are actually saying "Bye, Bye, Bye!"!!!! great job, Chris--socetew)
Come With Me My Love -- Brer Brian (Brer is so ridiculously talented, IT HURTS. From the openning chords to the piano scatting and the humming, I am totally captivated. Then when the strumming and singing starts, I am utterly transformed into a super happy camper. I love it so much. Hats off to Brer.)
Goodtank -- Enola (Enola is Martin Gradal's band.. they are very rocking, and Martin has an excellent voice. This track is an unhappy song-- it has really cool chord changes, and some uplifting parts. Go, Enola, go go go!!! yours, eocs)
My Band -- D12 (Eminem is back again!!! That track is hilarious!! I love the idea of D12 being a boy band. It's so true.. everyone loved Justin.. not so crazy about Lance and Joey [[although *I* though Joey was the best!!! :-) ]]. Ah, I like to hear something totally silly like that on pop radio. Ah, Em and D12, you guys sure are alright. peace, eelio)
We Love Doctor Tanner -- Toby Goodshank f/ Nathan Gulick (This is one of my favorite songs ever. It's over 7 minutes long, but it actually feels pretty short. It interesting, because Toby's CD Helmic Regulator has this very interesting vibe in that it feels like it's ended when it's halfway done, and then all of the rest of the songs feel like bonus tracks. So I kept listening and listening, and thinking, "THIS must be the actual final track." But it wasn't! But then when I hit We Love Doctor Tanner, that track really stuck out as being truly happy and fun [and yes, it's the actual final track.. well, besides the postlude ^_^ ]. I love the wit, I love the rhymes, the seriousness and the utterly ridiculous and theatrical nature of it. I give out mad props to Toby and Nathan for coming up with such cool notes and such a neat plot. Great job, guys!! take care, socito)
That's Impossible -- Toby Goodshank (This song is hilarious! I love every second of it. It's funny, because I listened to it numerous times before I even figured out what it was about.. and the meaning really isn't meant to be all that elusive. It's great fun.)
Macaroni, Macaroni -- Lance Romańce (This is a super hot rap, and I love having macaroni and cheese. Probably my favorite lines are "save some water in a glass for your father" and "now, do you have an oven timer?" --my bad if I messed them up slightly, but that's the gist of it. --soce)
Toxic -- Britney Spears (What can I say? This track is like a million times more melodic and interesting than "Baby" or "Oops", plus it has violins in it!! She just can't go wrong these days!! with tender-loving care, socetew)
Find a Way -- A Tribe Called Quest (Yeah, it's great, and I'm pretty sure the beat for this track gets sampled in a fairly recent song.)
Star -- Onion Baby (Here, Mr. Baby has a mastery of both the bongo sounds and definitely the "1, 2, 3, 4" voice that comes standard with every keyboard. This song is really chill, and even though it only has a few words in it, it is terribly depressing.. about some loser nobody notices or cares about. What a great track to listen to on my way home after a long and fulfilling day of work. love, eocs)
Here I Am -- Linda Draper (Linda's CD Patchwork is very dreamy and relaxed. There's something about it that's completely different from any other CD I have ever listened to. It's just so uplifting and relaxing.. you just want to sit out on the porch with your loved one and listen to it while drinking lemonade. In Here I Am, she sings these really cool arpeggios during the verses, and the chorus is just totally rocking, the way she sings a lot and then just stops.. it almost has a bit of a hip hop vibe to it, although only in a way that a cat like me would notice. You probably won't think it has a hip hop vibe. You'll probably just see it as a really good song, which is also how I feel about it. Go, Linda!! You're music is so sweet! best, soce)
Mommy Womp Stomp -- Huggabroomstik (This rousing choral track is a great way to usher in the self-titled Hugga CD. Your MOM is HOT!! It's happy and sad at the same time.. it rocks and makes me mad.. but then I just went and had a talk with my womping dad-- so now, I'm glad. --eeloqkutzien)
Climax (Girl Sh**)-- Slum Village (Slumma Villa out in hot form. I like the chord changes and the whole dreamy feeling brought about by the female singing and the cool sounds during the chorus. Fun, hot rapping that could lead to some fun hot special times. --socetew)
Birthright -- Gina Young (I gotta have this track!!! I've heard Gina do it live, but I wish I could listen to it all the time--it's not on her first album.. maybe she'll put it on her next one? It's totally cool how she curses out our prez and makes it humorous at times as well. I loved it when she was all like, "Everybody, sing along now.. I GOT BETTER GRADEZ THAN YOU!!!" Oh, she is the best.)
Do the Blink (and take off your clothes) -- Lance Romańce (I hadn't realized it, but Lance is really quite the rapper!!! The Blink has quickly been taking over America as today's hottest dance sensation. I also think "Bruno Brown's Big-Ass Beat" is a pretty neat track. You can kiss Bruno if you have beef with Lance [ie eat some steak with him.. erhhh gwefoij (sic)]--love, socetew)
Bling Bling Baby -- Milk Kan (Well.. you know how much I love rapping, and it sounds good over the happy melody. It's also pretty dang dope the way he pronounces "vitamins", lol--eocs)
Mr. Smith -- David Dragov (This song is really catchy and has great cord changes. It's also extremely depressing, as many listeners [myself include it] compare ourselves to the aforementioned Mr. Smith. Sometimes life just sucks. But please don't give up! love, soce)
I Wi$h I had $ome Money -- Chonk (Cool track.. again, catchy and death-related.)
Warning -- Alfchen Soundsystem (These songs are really fun. I enjoy both the accoustic and the full band versions. I guess I gotta look out avoid serious injury, eh?)
Going Mainstream -- Paradigm (Great track! It's very true.. sometimes--well, a lot of the time--underground hip hop sucks just as much as the mainstream bull****.)
Bleeding in the Future -- Onion Baby (Someone gave me this CD at the Antihoot open mic, and it's now one of my favorite CDs to listen to. This guy records all these tracks in his studio with cool beats and really strange samples. It's totally amazing and extremely catchy. The first track is my favorite, but I love every single one of them. He plays some guitar on the tracks as well. Everything is very well produced. Great job, Onion Baby!! Maybe we can do a track together in the future!! Hit me up! peace--soce, the elemental wizard)
Tuesday Night -- Toby Goodshank (I'm really feeling the reggae vibe on this track. Toby's whole album Helmic Regulator is totally like, "...What?!" but we all love him, cuz he's so darn cute and all misguided-seeming, so I'll keep on listening to tracks about blood-c### and beating myself in the head until it all makes sense. Yes, it's weird, but I like it a lot. I'd say something like, "This young star is definitely on the rise," except for the fact that he's already extremely well established and popular, so I should probably say something more to the effect of, "This brightly shining star is a gift that all shall enjoy." And I will. Errhh, somewhere else.. cuz I already just basically said that hear. Love!!! --socetew)
Mercury -- Duende (Duende is such a talented and amazing band. They are so incredibly cool. Listening to them is just pure bliss. Mercury is so angry and upset and wonderfully blends their two sublime voices together.. it's a musical masterpiece.)
Smell You On My Hands -- dub-L (This song has the beat that makes it sound incredibly serious, like it should be a ghetto anthem or something. But instead, it's ridiculously hilarious and disgusting!! On the one hand, you could view it probably how the author intended it to be: as a complaint towards women who don't take care of their treasures. But on the other hand, I usually end up seeing it as an ode to gay pride!! Love the man! Fear the woman! It's like a cautionary tale, even though I know that's not at all what it's meant to be, probably, lol-- Or I guess it could also be a lesbian pryde thing, like women being all like, "yeah, I know it's nastay, but that's how we like it!!" The funny thing is that this whole song is only like 48 seconds long, but hey. love ==> socet, the poet)
