I'M HERE RIGHT NOW!" Ah, and they laughed at all my jokes. I love rocking out the MBR open mics, because I feel like they really listen to every single word that I say, which is cool cuz I say a heckuvalotta words, lol. love, soce

I think it must have been pretty fun to watch.. unless maybe you were one of my friends :O

Guerrilla Words

RESULTS: I got to chill with a bunch of my peeps, so that was the sweetness. I was feeling a bit low-key about needing to do gay songs there every single time, so I performed Not Wanted, and guess what. I absolutely killed it. I mean, the crowd was mad into it the whole time, and they were going crazy, feeling it!! It felt good to let the power of the music surge throughout me and just get angrier and angrier at this fictitional person/entity whom I could no longer stand. There was a lot of laughter when I said "I could give you a chance to get in my pants..." I guess that is pretty funny! Alright, can't wait to go back next time for a SHOWCASE SLOT!! peace, soce

People seemed to enjoy my flows, and I of course gave out lots of stickers and CDs to the populace, drank lots of tasty beer, chilled with the Iso's and a bunch of other cool peeps, and that was it! until next time, I'll be forever yours--socetew

Saturday, September 6, 10pm-- NYC, Dave and Bradley's Party
MY FIFTH EVER FULL-LENGTH PERFORMANCE--A HOT PARTY

RESULTS: Man, that was a great day. I sold a bunch of CDs, had lots of beer and chilled with a bunch of people I hadn't seen in a minute. Dave and Bradley are two very cool guys, and it was really fun hanging with them and Nuts In Your Mouth (the other band that performed there). Here's to the future of hip hop fun!!
The party was in an apartment in Brooklyn!!

Tuesday, September 2, 8:00pm -- NYC, Nightingale
Guerrilla Words

RESULTS: Guerrilla Words is an incredible hot open mic. It only costs $2 (suggested donation) to get in, and it lasts a long time, plus there are super famous underground acts. First, the MCs were each given a round-robin 8-bar spitting session, where we each got to go up four times. People seemed to like my flow a lot,.. one even said I was the only one who seemed to know how long 8 bars was :) Then I got to see showcases by Immortal Technique and also Pack FM and Tonedeff. Those guys are mad famous and talented, although it makes me a bit sad that their raps contain a lot of gay bashing, plus Pack and Tone did a lot of "I am great and you suck" raps, although they did hit up on some funny stuff too with Tone's track "So Disappointed."

It was really funny because I had constantly been making eyes at the host throughout the whole show so that he wouldn't forget that I wanted to spit a track. When it was finally my turn, he was like,"soce? Is soce there? One more time.. soce..?" Meanwhile, I was frantically jumping up and down right in front of him as my slot evaporated.. but then he said he was just kidding and of course knew I was right there. That was so awesome!! I totally love the humor. I was so excited that I stuck my head in the couch and lifted my feet in the air before jumping up on stage. I did my track You Know the Deal. It's a sneaky track, because the first verse is this intellectual sounding material that is basically nonsense, so the audience is kind of like "whatever.. next?" But then when I hit the chorus, I yell out,"I AM A HOMO." And then everyone is like,.. "Huh--wha??" And then I jump into my sexual fantasies and love of video games and everyone suddenly picks up and was totally laughing hard at the over-the-top nature. That'll teach those homophobes to diss gays! I can just be funny and hopefully people have a good time with it, and we will all go home smiling.

Monday, August 25, 8pm -- NYC, Sidewalk Cafe
Antihoot Open Mic

RESULTS: I saw some really neat acts, including Keith Zariello, a/k/a The Humiliated, who is incredibly brilliant and entertaining. I love his performances. I didn't get to perform until almost the very end, and so as I was waiting, I wrote a new last verse to my track SD, where I put in the names of people I had just seen performing and used their names to rhyme how I went down on them. People seemed to find it really funny and not that offensive, which I guess is good? The entertainment is what matters. Mad props to Lippe, who summoned in a bunch of extra audience members from the other rooms in order to watch me do my verbal pleasuring.

Sunday, August 24, 11pm -- NYC, Sidewalk Cafe
MY FOURTH EVER FULL-LENGTH PERFORMANCE!!!

RESULTS: I got to see the Isotoners perform, so that was sweet. They checked out my set a good bit also, so that was nice. I debuted a few more hot gay tracks that had all sorts of people dripping some hot wax.. light it up and make a candle, burn it, do it again, you and a friend, finding positions new to invent. Hey, I just came up with that. Don't bite it. It was ah, a fun time over all. Excited about doing it again, no doubt.

Sunday, August 24, 9:30pm -- NYC, Pyramid
End of the Weak Open Mic

RESULTS: Okay, so I didn't actually get a chance to spit, because I had to leave for my Sidewalk gig, but my man Access spit his track What You Thought it Was over my beat and repped me as a producer, so I'd say that is pretty hot. Also, I did my usual politicking and such like it ain't no thing. I chatted it up with this one totally chill rapper how a lot of rappers have a weak grip on their manhood and feel like they always have to rap about how they will kill you and stay super hard and can't ever have any fun. He also gave me mad props for getting up on stage and rapping about being gay. Thanks, man!

Monday, August 18, 8pm -- NYC, Sidewalk Cafe
Antihoot Open Mic

RESULTS: A very fun time. I did Not Wanted, and people seemed to be feeling the energy and anger. My girl Rivky stopped by, as well as my main man Dave, who even got a chance to get up on stage to play in--and subsequently win!!--a friendly game of Wadafk [[sorry, I am unable to spell it correctly.. the kids could be looking!]]. In the spirit of "it's never enough", I was a bit sad that there was this big and hot guy in the audience who left before I hit the stage. I realize in retrospect that I should have done the classic technique of coming up to him after he played to be all like, "Yo man, I totally loved your music! It was so awesome. Hey, I really hope you stay to see me."

You can laugh and call it brown-nosing (whoo!), but many people have successfully used the same exact technique on me, except maybe without saying "Yo!". Everyone likes to be told they were enjoyed. I actually wanted to stay until the end to check out this *other* really cool and talented guy perform, but alas my buddy D got tired and sweepy, so we had to break out beforehand. But there is always a next time, yay!!!

Sunday, August 17, 9:30pm -- NYC, Pyramid
End of the Weak Open Mic

RESULTS: EoW is a place where my reputation truly precedes me. Right when I got there, the buzz started. People were all like, "Oh, you're the one with the wizard hat? You make hot beats and got the free promo CD? That's you?" They even asked me to spit a few verses. Then a guy battled me for a bit and I battled him back. I ain't much for battlin though so whatever. Then, this other guy tried to battle me from afar, claiming that I was gay because I wore a fruity shirt. Nah, buddy.. it's the other way around. I *chose* to go to EoW with this shirt that has fruit-flavored candies on it (I hate to give companies advertising without getting paid for it, so I won't say their name) DUE TO THE FACT that I'm trying to let people know that I am gay. So whatever. I was prompted to go over and battle him, and he spit another verse, *again* decrying me as a gay man (no creativity!). I didn't feel like fighting back though, because he seemed like he was spitting from the heart, and I only like to battle people where it's clearly not serious.

So word has been spreading out a little bit that I am a gay rapper (as opposed to being a homothug, like everyone else; j/k, lol :). People are probably a bit weirded out, but SOMEONE'S got to be one, right? When I took to the stage, I started out doing Bad Hair Day--one of my funny verses--and I felt like all I got was some blank stares. So I got pissed and did my third verse of 1-2-3-4-5, you know, the one where I claim that I am always mad horny and that I will rape you and that you will like it. People started smiling at the first part where I crack the joke about my "gat" really being the thing that makes my pants wet, but then there were definitely lots of creeped-out "whoa"s and "what?"s as I got into the whole having sex part. Which is funny because at the folk singing open mics, people eat it up and love it, so I think it's funny that in that respect, EoW is much, much more conservative. But ah, it was a good time, and the cool cats still gave me props regardless. Big Zoo even shouted out my line,"Turn around, it's time to do it rough" right after I finished spitting!! That definitely got me hyped, because I had never gotten a line shouted out before. Aight, that's what's up. --socetew

Wednesday, August 13, 9pm -- NYC, Infrared Lounge
Open Stage

RESULTS: I hadn't been to the Infrared in a minute, so it was fun to be back. My gal Rivky was there, and I think she got excited about hopefully really soon getting up there and doing some singing of her own. Yay!! This is history in the making folks. I did the H but H Remix, followed by 1-2-3-4-5. There was this rapper I had met at End of the Weak who was there with his crew, and they helped heat up the chorus with their crowd participation, so mad props to all of them. peace, eocs
