ANOTHER SOCE-THROWN GIG
This was CRA-ZAY. I had a lot of fun, and the audience was LOUD, singing along w/ all my soce classics and new hits. I love all of my special guests: Matt Singer, Chris Fuller, Scotland Zeif, Ice Jug, Dan Fishback and... Lisa!!! Violin, guitar, iPod, singing, dancing.. I really couldn't ask for much more. As an added bonus to the money I made at the show from tips 'n CD sales, I got home and discovered that I sold a few more CDs online at CD Baby! Sweet!!! Three cheers goes out to Linda Draper and Toby Goodshank, who did an excellent job openning and closing (respectively) for me.

RESULTS: I got to sing I Need You with Matt Singer playing guitar, so that was a real treat for me. I also debuted the Work/Play Bar Mitzvah Remix Extended version, which clocks in at a whopping 2:47 and has a portion where it discusses my love of pro-wrestling. Great. It was neat going out there and seeing some of my friends. Afterwards, I ran all the way back to Apocolypse Lounge to check out much of Cross-Polination, and that was quite cool and entertaining as well. Love, soce

The Reichtag Follies
Yo, I did IDL, followed by I Am (So Gay). IASG had the audience in major stitches!! I think it helped that one of the hosts came out as 2Pops and was my hype boy for that track.. it was utterly bananas. Big, fat, thick, chocolate-covered bananas.. foster. Mmmmmm. Yupe! Love, soce

Rapping w/ Cheese on Bread!!
RESULTS: I was checking out my peeps C.o.B. Their set was hella tight!! At the end, I got to rap with them on their song Gucci Model, cuz I had written a verse for that not too long ago. I love rapping on stage with other people! And since I only had one song to do, I let me energy go all out, full throttle, yelling "HUNH!? WHAT?!?!?!" like a mad man. Ah, good times.

FULL-LENGTH SHOW
RESULTS: This place had a very HOTT sound system. I sold some CDs, made some new fans.. some people off the email list came, I got videotaped, my brother and sister-in-law showed up.. all and all a really fun show! Things definitely heated up when I started doing my track "SD unplugged". It's funny, because I always keep thinking that people will hate that track, but that ends up being everyone's favorite! I guess people just have this inane desire to see someone get up on stage and go on and on about how all he can ever do is brown-nose, but that he does it so darn well!!! love, soce

Some of them were even pretty hot :-) I ran into a bunch of my friends from all sorts of different parts of my life--Yale, friendster, previous shows, open mics--it was really quite something! Ah, and The Isotoners were looking cuter than ever with their black eyes and their Daddy's Little [Piņata/Ashtray/Bed Pan, &c] shirts on. Ah, supa fun times!! be easy, so-cheezy

LUNACON '04!!!
RESULTS: Wow, what a scene. There were people in full SF (science fiction) costumes, all sorts of foam sword fighting, books, costumes, jewelry, panels, artwork, music.. pretty much everything you could think of. It was a real honor to be a part of it all. The sound and lighting for my show was amazing!! I had an enormous stage with tons of speakers and all sorts of crazy moving and color-changing lights! It was 'tha hotness, fa sure. I did some of my gay traxx, like H but H and I Need a Guy, but none of my over-the-top stuff.. maybe next time, heh heh. I had a good time performing and checking out the rest of the con. yours truly, soce

Mindspray Open Mic
RESULTS: Yepppp!!!!!!!!! Broke dominated his set. It was totally killer. I was mad happy (lol, it's an oxy!) that J-Zone remembered me from the Fat Beats talent search a year ago in the Knitting Factory. Ah, my two minutes of fame have really stretched out like some gooey, sticky soft caramel, eh? I did Gett Backk.. not really sure why I bowed at the end.. felt a little silly, so I got back up quite quickly, but I guess it was probably kind of cute. Some people came up afterwards and said they thought it was good and they liked my energy, so that was neat-p. --so"s"e (ie "soess")

Plus I had Chris Fuller playing guitar on one of my tracks, Mark Walker playing bass on another track, and I did some hot freestyling with Broke. I also whipped out my brand new Fender electric violin, played a bit on the piano and danced around a whole lot. Super sexy! And intelligent. Great times; love, soce

RESULTS: Lots of good-looking people.. and I even hung out with some of them! I sold many CDs, so that was great. I sang Broken Heart, as well as "the Broken Heart remix" Be Mine, a song about loving hot men.. but I got shy, so I mostly stared at the ladies when I said, "You're looking good tonight.." But yeah, you knew who I was really thinking of, lol!! Probably the line that got the most laughs was when I said, "Some day I will be thirty." heh heh, fun--eocs

Antihoot Open mic
RESULTS: I learned, much to my delight while standing in front of a packed crowd, that my iPod's audio line out no longer works properly. It now changes my sound from half-way decent to total crap. Fortunately, the experience gave me a chance to use my newfound skill at tickling the ivories. I debuted my track I Need You and played the good ol' fashioned Beach Boys-styled sing-a-long IDL (I'm Dickless). Oh, it was quite a romp into inner goodness. I was truly delighted to have won over a fan that had been skeptic in the past. He said that playing the piano brought out the musicality of my works. That really meant a lot. He is an extremely talented and humorous musician himself, and I look forward to listening to his CD (we traded full-length albums). Word up, indeed!! --eocs

FULL-LENGTH PERFORMANCE.. SEX WEEK AT YALE
RESULTS: Boy, did I show them how to do this, son... Man, did I ever! There was drinking, dancing, I got some cool t-shirts, a hat and keychain, wrote a new song on the piano (I Need You), met a cool guy, chilled with some of my friends from Yale, broke some stuff... can't ask for much more than that now, can I? No, I don't think so. love, socet, the poet

RESULTS: So, I performed Because It... ... ... at like 2 in the morning for 8 or so people. Great. Earlier in the evening though, I saw a bunch of my old peeps, plus I taught a friend to play Sad and Lonely on guitar. Plus it was cool because some of my close friends stuck around to the bitter end to hear me do my lil song, so I appreciate them staying for that. Word! I got home and was so exhausted and feeling like blah. I still kind of feel like blah. I just can't do these late-night open mics all that often. yours truly, socetew

RESULTS: I debuted Because It... here to a room full of strangers. Many people said they liked it a lot! It's funny, because my "crazier" songs get a lot of blank looks and not a lot of applause, but people seem to like it and enjoy getting the free CDs. Go figure. I'm not really sure what I'm trying to accomplish. But there *were* some people who thought it was absolutely great and hilarious, so I suppose I did it for THEM!! Suckhas! love, soce.

TryanSounds Open Mic
RESULTS: For someone who claimed to be finished with open mics, I've done an awful lot of them lately. Oh well.. this gave me a chance to reconnect with some old friends, and even though there was very little applause after each song I did, many people told me they thought my set was "hilarious" and "brilliant". Go figure. fyi, it was my debut of the piano versions of SD and IDL. *I* was excited about them and just the fact that I could pull it off. People were like, "Wait was that *you* singing about SD? What do your parents think?" At least they will REMEMBAH! word up, socetew

RESULTS: I am a huge fan of both Cheese on Bread and Gina Young, so it was really great to hear both of them perform. Cheese on Bread rocked it out with a band, so that was totally awesome! It was nice to drop some of my own music as well. Yay. I think the funniest part is that it was listed all over various Philly newspapers as the Q-Superpowers Show, and I had made that name ("Q-Superpowers") up myself, so props to me :-) cheers, soce

RESULTS: Wow. You would not believe how much fun I had. I did my own crazy music, plus I played the piano. I freestyled and did some writtens with Kontrast (Sketch and Z-313), I had this amazing singer Lola Johnson backing me up, plus Lola and my man Chris Fuller came in on guitar at one point, and Dan Fishback got a bit sassy on stage.. aw, man, it was crazy, plus I got to hang out with some cool peeps afterwards. Antihoot Open mic
RESULTS: This open mic performance marked a new era in socetude. I played Wistful Breeze on the piano, the way I first wrote it, and people really liked it a lot!! Of the two songs I did, a lot of people were like, "Is that piano song on the free demo CD/album I just bought from you?" It was interesting, because I was so nervous about screwing up the piano that when people started laughing at the jokes in the rap, I was all like "what? are they laughing at me?" but then I remembered that it's actually a pretty funny song, so of course people SHOULD be laughing, and then I lightened up and was like, whatever.. people are feeling this.. I'm allowed to get a little emotional and not just bang out keys and words.
In other exciting news, I almost lost my iPod when it fell out of my pocket onto the floor, but fortunately some really awesome guy found it. And in *other* news, one of my favorite groups came up to me and sang the entire chorus of Sad and Lonely to me, so that really made me feel happy :-) Oh, and Dots Will Echo played this totally awesome song that I love so much.. you can see it listed in my list of favorite songs. Nick (the man behind DWE) got way into his performance, doing some crazy cool headbanging as he rocked out. It was great. Love, eeloqkutzien
